hmmm tough question! Rome is terrible for parking places. Hotel Santa Chiara is near the Pantheon so it is right IN the historic centre and the parking places there are limited. The only place I can think of it the parking in Piazza dei Cinquecento and in Via Marsala both near Termini Station...You should get a cab or a bus to reach the hotel though...

I Googled, and every site that mentioned your hotel said there is private parking available at the hotel itself.

Have you asked the hotel if you can leave the car there for a few days?

A couple of thoughts: Could you jiggle with your itinerary so you could visit Rome last and drop off your car as you arrive in or near the city? Alternatively, consider leaving your car in Orvieto and taking the train in/out of Rome (about an hour). This would save you the hassle of driving in Rome, and parking in an outlying area would be less expensive. A bonus would be visiting Orvieto.

Hi,
We stayed there 2 years ago. There is no parking at the hotel. We were directed to a hotel a few blocks away near the Trevi Fountain. Although, I think that was just overnight parking. I would call and ask the hotel about that. We had just arrived on a Sunday afternoon from Florence and had planned on dropping off the car at the train station, but the car rental place had already closed for the day. Lucky us!The Santa Chiara allowed us to park in front and drop off our luggage and then highlighted a map so we could find our way to the garage.
Good Luck!

Sorry that was a parking garage, not a hotel...

Maybe I misread everything. I guess when all of the websites said 'The hotel has its own private parking', I assumed it meant the parking was right there at the hotel. But reading DebiC's post, it sounds as though the hotel has contracted with a garage for a certain number of spaces, specifically to be used by hotel guests.

Thanks all ,I did write to the hotel and they can find a garage for 35,00 Euros a night. I will also try the Termini Station area.

I have used that underground car park "near" Trevi fountain. It is okay. I would call it closer to the immediate rear of the art museum which sits in front of the the Pssa d. Colonna (I hope I am citing that correctly).

The big undreground car park at Borghese is very nice, though it is a taxi ride form the Centro Storico.

Best wishes,

Rex
