Does anyone have suggestions how and where to park in the small villages of Provence? I have a bum knee and can't walk all over a village, up and down, as I've read one must in many of these small ones. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a parking lot here and there about town, ex. <BR>St. Remy, Cavaillon,Les Baux, Uzes, etc. or am I dreaming?

There is a second smaller one opposite the church on the west side of the village as well.<BR><BR>Les Baux has a pay parking lot - but it's on the hill and you'll either have to walk up (and it's steep) or down to get into the village proper. Once in the village it's all uphill on cobblestones... <BR><BR>Uzes has parking i various spots around the town... some are closer to the main ring street than others. If it's summer, you'll find it hard to get one of those spots.<BR><BR>PB

Every town and village has parking areas scattered about the area. If you want to get a good idea of where the parking places are located, many web sites will tell you. Alternatively, for about 20 bucks, you can buy a Michelin red guide to France, which has very detailed street maps of many towns, including where the parking areas are located. Also, many towns (but not all) now have handicapped spots, if you can qualify for one. Have a good trip; I'm sure you'll find places to park that will be OK.

I have just one piece of advice: if you're parking on the street or even in a parking area, read the signs carefully (or get someone to help you!). This is especially true if you're parking overnight. On one trip I parked for several nights in a parking area in Arles that was recommended by the desk clerk in our hotel, but I failed to read the sign that said the market was located there on a certain day of the week. When that day came, my car was towed to make room for the merchant stalls. It was an expensive hassle, and I certainly learned a lesson.

Uzes definitely has a parking garage, I should know, nearly got my car locked in there my first night into town! (nothing like jet lag and being an hour from your B&B! PBProvence knows the story.. <BR><BR>St. Remy as I recall had plenty of parking spots (then again I was there in March).<BR><BR>Les Baux has one as well. you definitely want to park as close as you can with your knee being the way it is...<BR><BR>

Hi! Cavaillon Has a free parking lot..the Verdun Parking lot, right in town. Hard to get a space during market hours. We were disappointed in Cavaillon. I don't know about anyone else. Hope this helps.
