Parking around Florence

Hi all,

10 days till I leave for Italy! We’ll be staying outside Siena with a car, and are thinking of driving to Florence for a day. I hope to avoid driving in the city itself, looking for parking. Does anyone know of someplece close where I can park and either walk or hop a bus into Florence? I heard that there’s a big parking garage under the train station. I know where the train station is, and that would be perfect, but not if it’s going to be a nightmare to get there.
Any suggestions?

- Alice

I drove to the train station directly from the airport and from that direction you head right to the station. No problem at all. Park and walk into the main area.

Agree. Parking at the Santa Maria Novella train station is the most convenient.

ciao alice

if you drive from siena to firenze take the superstrada, at the roundabout at certosa follow the signs for centro. drive all the way down till porta romana, from there you drive the indications to fortezza di basso. take care, they changed a lot of streets in other one way directions, but signs are changed as well. but anyway, follow then the signs to stazione and parcheggio. it might be a bit crowded but take it easy, inhale - exhale and relax while driving.

auguri e saluti

christina

The last couple of times I've been there, they'd had ample parking right when you cross the Ponte Della Vittoria, heading into Florence. (The road you'll be on will take you to the train station.) The parking be on the right. There's a park area there - Piazza Vittoria Veneto. You'll need to get there early, though.
