Parisian 'Flower-Growing Toilets to Fight Public Urination

Long a bane of Paris are the clochards or street 'bums' pissing just about anywhere -I guess even the free WCs have not cured this age-old tradition. But now a new 'green' solution should make the problem better?

Don't blame the tramps. They are not responsible for all the peeing in Paris.
A variation on a composting toilet. They sound expensive though.

You're probably right- just that they are the most visible - to me at least - once coming down escalator at department store there was a big glass window at the bottom looking outside and two clochards were brazenly openly peeing right on the window, in view of all who seemed to take it in stride. That was a while ago but I guess the men urinating in public still continues - I guess -have not walked around Paris in last few years.

There are only a couple of examples of these composting toilets in Paris.
They are only using them for a trial run, because they aren't very practical in the long run.
It's one of the suggestions accepted by the Mayor's Office - which usually turn out to be wildly impractical.
Most people seem to prefer to urinate against a tree than in a flower bed.

Old habits are hard to change -even for the greater good.

Trial "runs"? Might have a double meaning to North Americans.

Good luck with that. Urine kills flowers.

Not all flowers - a friend used to have friends at a party relieve themselves on some flowers he said found urine beneficial.
