Paris - Where do you go back to every time?

Many Fodorites visit Paris every year, or at least often. Where do you always go back to every time you visit? Particularly, where do you go first? Or save for last?

I've been to Paris only twice, but I loved the Jardin du Luxembourg so much the first time that I sought it out the second. What a beautiful garden! And as sappy and cliche' as it sounds, I really dig the Eiffel Tower. I'm in awe of it whenever i see it. On my last visit I was jetlagged the first morning and caught the first Metro to the tower at about 5AM and saw it at daybreak with NO TOURISTS! It wasn't lit up, but it was so peaceful and amazing - I felt like I had it all to myself.

I'm putting the finishing touches on an Italy trip for next month and I'm REALLY tempted to stop in Paris at the end! It's so cheap to get there from Rome! Might be too much, though...

Musee d'Orsay. I love the Impressionists, and this museum has the world's great collection of the French Impressionists.

I go to Paris every year (twice this past year), and each time I take a boat ride on the Seine. I especially like the trip at night when all the buildings and bridges along the way are illuminated.

One of the first places I take people is to the Trocadero. We get off the metro and walk down the steps through the buildings. The sight of the Eiffel Tower from this vantage point never fails to impress first-timers.

Pont Alexandre III. Each year we walk and across the bridge and have our picture taken at the same spot. Over the course of more than 25 years we can report that the bridge is aging but that we remain the same.

I Like it!!Pont Alexandre III is such a pretty bridge!! I enjoy it with every visit. I will be introducing a friend in a few weeks.

An Illuminations tour in the evening and the view from Trocadero is quite special. I still remember my very first visit.

Enjoy........

Auteuil and Parc Sainte-Périne. I love the quiet, village feel of Auteuil and the hidden, lovely Parc.

Musee d'Orsay, Rodin Museum, Ste. Chappelle, Notre Dame. I don't know why, but these four are just must-sees every time (and that's 5 times now). I absolutely love them and am never disappointed.

To Berthillon on the Ile St-Louis, for a double-scoop cone with framboise and citron vert. Or possibly framboise and chocolat blanc.

Hi K,

>Auteuil and Parc Sainte-Périne.

Mind sharing the location and how to get there?

For me it is Saint Chapelle. It is the only place I have been to every time I have gone to Paris.

I second the Jardin du Luxembourg. Also, I always manage to spend time in the Quartier Latin. Brings back memories of my very first trip to Paris.

I do like to at least drive by Notre Dame, Pont Neur, Tour Eiffel and L'Arc de Triomphe also, if only to take a quick pic.

Our first stay in Paris is coming up in late October - 8 days - probably not enough time to see everything listed on this post, but I am bookmarking anyway! Great topic ...
