I just stumbled onto your report (haven't vsited the Europe board since our trip to Paris in November) and it's such an enjoyable read.

You sound like a great mom and traveling companion who knows how to have a good time.

Looking forward to your next installment..

Yo, Coco~

Yes, you got me a bit early. I'm back now from the doctor, and mad enough to chew nails. I've waited some 2 hours to cool off before posting, because my anger level is really high. Sometimes you choose the wrong doctor, I suppose...

This fella ended up telling me it was indeed the posterior tibial tendon, but his bedside manner was atrocious, and I did not enjoy him stroking my leg (between the knee and thigh, top side) while talking with me. I suppose he meant to be kind. I felt it was quite the invasion of my "space".

Also, he appears to specialize mainly in injuries (and apparently, mostly with bone fractures), so he was little help. Reminds me of the joke -

Patient: "Doctor - it hurts right here when I laugh."

Doctor: "Then don't laugh!"

Basically, he told me that if I walked, I could expect to experience pain and a recovery period. Gee, thanks.

(Can you tell how sour my mood is right now?????)

Lufty~

I'm working on getting the photos posted... I'm having a hard time weeding them out, because they are ALL so special to me!!!

Poor Teri :-S these are bad news. You're starting from zero again then. I really hope you'll find a competent specialist!
Maybe you should post here to ask for a specialist in your region/town. (it IS travel related!)

Very good idea from Lufty!
Don't choose just take them all! We'll choose for you! ;-)
I had the same problem with my Dijon album (248pics!)
Take care

Coco (or any others who can help with picture albums!)~

My pics are ultra high resolution and huge! Did you have to resize all yours for your album? What album did you post in?

I could easily upload them "as is" if there is a place that will take them, but I'm guessing at around 2 meg each, no one WANTS them!

Mine is on kodakgallery, my pictures are not so big (between 500-800ko) and I didn't resize them. I don't remember if there is a weight limit...

That's really too bad about the doctor after all the trouble you went to, and the cost. Maybe you need a better opinion or doctor. I had the same thing happen to me from a podiatrist. I had pain, growing worse, from walking on one foot, coming from the ball. A few years before, I had had a plantar wart and recognized the symptoms -- I think it was the same foot. So I went to this podiatrist in my PPO near my work, and he basically tells me a) it is almost impossible to be a plantar wart because they don't appear again in the same spot, b) he could tell from the looks of it that it wasn't a plantar wart, and 3) I'll just have to live with it and get used to the pain.

I don't think so, this was preposterous, so I went to my mother's podiatrist when home for Christmas a month later, and she said I had two options -- surgery to remove it (which involved taking out a core), or trying some topical medication to take it out gradually. I wanted it out, so did the surgery. This cured it, and I was back to normal in a week or two -- and the biopsy of the thing they removed showed that it was, indeed, a plantar wart. Just as I thought. I felt like mailing the results back to the original doctor and asking for my money back, but I let it drop. So, I would get a second opinion and try to find a different doctor.

Anyway, I really am enjoying your trip report so much, it is such a good one. I think it is so great that you had a lot of little problems and setbacks, but you just picked yourself up and moved on and did something else instead (like missing the train to Rouen), whereas I would have just felt like giving up and crying at some points. So you really adapted very well to minor glitches, which I think is a good lesson for some others who may read this that stuff is going to happen and to be prepared to work around it. But, it sounds like you still did a lot of nice things and enjoyed the trip, in spite of some problems, and that's the important thing.

Sounds like you have tendonitis...an inflamed tendon from overusing it in Paris. Didn't the Dr. say it would probably resolve itself if you give it a rest...(and he probably suggested anti inflamatories, (which I don't like), but which would help.
IF the Dr. was right in pinpointing the cause of your pain, then he wasn't a bad doctor.
You have wonderful memories of your great trip to Paris with your daughter...and I know those memories will always be precious to you.
It seems to me you were in Paris about a week too long...weren't you there almost 2 weeks?,,,and perhaps that did cause your tendon trouble.
I do hope your discomfort abates soon, so you can travel again.
Really enjoyed your thorough report. I have foot problems, knee replacement, and the other one needing replacement...so that last time to Paris we didn't do the metro (enjoyed the city busses), walked some, and avoided steps if possible. That will be the norm on future trips wherever, and it worked out fine.

Thanks Teri,
As most others on here, your travel report became quite engrossing for me and I would certainly enjoy seeing your pictures. I'm headed over again in March and plan on posting my pics and a report as well.

First set of photos up!!! 92 in this one, and the shots are from:

1) The view from Tour Montparnasse (and the trip to/from & vicinity)
2) The castle in Versailles (and the trip to/from & vicinity)
3) The Louvre, and then the gardens & the ferris wheel, with some photos taken from the top of the ferris wheel.

I sitll have a billion more to go, and these were selected shots from those three folders on my hard drive (believe it or not). I'm *dying* to hear your feedback!

Tbelle, your link to photos does not work . You should use the share photo tab in Kodak Gallery, send it to yourself, open link, then use that link to share here.

Funny it didn't work! I didn't have to do what jody said but it could work.
I simply visualize the album showing pictures and copy the link...

And here's a link to the few that I've already processed on my own site - these aren't included in the Kodak gallery, and are the first of our trip here...
