Paris to Rome Ryan air transfers options for a dya trip?

Hi folks - Ryan Air's low fares have intrigued me. On 6/1 when the November flights are posted I am making a leap. I'd like to bok a "Day Trip" from Rome to Paris on 15 November. The air fare and add ons should be reasonable. Venice and Barcelona are options. My goal is simple - take my partner to lunch for his birthday. We will be in Paris 10 days and as many of you know, this is our annual junket to Paris. We have done all the Paris day trips and I'd like to do something different. Money is "an object" so I am trying to figure out a way to do this within reason. My questions are this: what is the best way to do a transfer in either city? We will be staying at the Palais Royal in Paris. With it being a day trip I do't want to spend endless hours on a bus. But I do want to be reasonable about the cost. Also, as I look at the cities Ryan Air actually flies into I realize they are far outside the major cities advertised. It would not be a bad thing to do an alternative city for lunch. For exampe, we fly into Ciampino and not go to Rome but rather a quaint, quite, lazy city on the coast. I am not afraid to drive a rental car for a day if that makes sense ...oh, and the last curve ball, there are 4 of us this year....looking for advice, tips, thoughts (am I nuts) and anything else folks may want to suggest.

I flew Ryan Air from Paris to Glasgow in 2003. Ryan actually flew out of Beauvais, which is an hour by bus (included in the ticket price) from Paris. There are two airports in Glasgow, and Ryan flew out of the more distant one, but it was on the train line--can't remember how long it took to reach the city.

Ciampino is a real airport for Rome, served by multiple airlines. CIA is only 15km from Central Rome, while FCO is 32km from it. And it's Fiumicino that's on the coast, not Ciampino.

However, Beauvais is about 80km or 50 miles from Paris, and the only reasonable way to get there is to take the Ryanair coach.

The plan is not as crazy as some may think. BVA-CIA leaves 09;10, arrives 11:05 and you can return CIA-BVA leaving 19:15, arriving 21:25.

Rome Ciampino is actually in the city (closer to the center than Fiumicino), so to minimize your bus time, you might rent a car the night before (is this supposed to be a surprise?) - - I don't know if there are city locations that are open late, or ultra-early. That gives you the hassle (and cost) of parking overnight, and I actually dont know what are your parking choices near the Palais Royal.

That's a high price to pay, to be able to leave your hotel at, say... 6:10, instead of 5:30 (Brauvais bus departs Porte Maillot at 6:10, check in at 5:55). Perhaps you would get back to your hotel 30 minutes sooner also (but stl have to deal with returning the ar n the morning).

Are you sure you wouldn't rather just go to Chateau d'Esclimont (St. Symphorien) - - it's spectacular.

Best wishes,

Rex

Hi sea,

I suggest you go to www.whichbudget.com and look up where you can fly to from Paris Orly or CDG.
