We are planning on spending 4 to five nights in Paris in late August/early September. We then want to go to Normandy for 3 or 4 nights and then to London. We on renting a car in Normandy. What would be the best means of travel from Paris to Normandy and then to London.

Train from Paris to Le Havre. Car rental in Le Havre, drive immediately to Honfleur via the Pont de Normandie. Rest of Normandy by car. Return car to Le Havre. Ferry to Folkstone, England.
Folkstone to London? Hmmmm....

There are no ferries to Folkestone. From Normany, there are ferries from Le Havre, Caen and Cherbourg to Portsmouth, and from Cherbourg to Poole (www.brittany-ferries.com, www.poferries.com). Brittany Ferries' ships are French and have good restaurants, or you can save time by booking a cabin on an overnight crossing. From Portsmouth, there are half-hourly trains to London.

You might consider reversing your trip. Go to Normandy first, renting your car at CDG upon arrival. Return to Paris, returning the car at Orly and taxiing to your Paris hotel. Then take the Eurostar from Paris to London. Or return the car in Normandy, train to Paris, etc.
