Frankly there is no need to totally twist the meaning of anything that was written if you choose to continue to disagree.

What is evident is that many North Americans have different ideas about tipping from the rest of the world and they seem to be extemely set in their ways. This will fade away as they learn that their century of domination of the world has come to an end.

Kerouac, I hope you realize that you have humiliated and discredited yourself with your remarks on this thread and will consider asking the editors to delete them. justineparis always froths at the mouth when the US is the subject, but you have posted on a trivial thread with real anger. I respectfully suggest you ask yourself why.

My vote is with NewbE.

By the way, Kerouac, I take it from your comments that you are not "set in YOUR ways"? Coulda fooled me.

>>This will fade away as they learn that their century of domination of the world has come to an end.<<

Becoming the new France is really going to suck for the US, for a lot of reasons.

Look at your own posts...
And tell me about discrediting oneself...

But as long as Neo votes for you, at least you're not alone..

So, pariswat, you're saying that Kerouac is not set in his ways? Oh, wait a minute. It's ok to be set in one's ways if they are the same as your ways, but not if they're different. Is that it?

That is the America credo.. "our ways are the good ways.. your ways are the bad ways.. and we will never change.. because we are always right" isn't it? So Kero and Pariswat are all wrong.. and the Americans are all right.

And Newbe.. you have got to be kidding.. posting here has been heated on both sides you hypocrite. Better to let everyones comments stand, whether you agree with them or not.. that's called freedom of speech.. and you are all big on that aren't you.. ?

No justinepRis, you have it wrong. People like you are insisting that other ways are the right ways, and those should never change. . . Because THOSE ways are always right. So the Americans are all wrong, and Kero and Pariswat are all right. How did you get it so backwards?

What is evident is that many North Americans have different ideas about tipping from the rest of the world

What is evident is that some Europeans seem to think that France constitutes the entirety of the "rest of the world".

That is the America credo.. "our ways are the good ways.. your ways are the bad ways.. and we will never change.. because we are always right" isn't it?

Just so we are all clear on what happened... In this thread, justineparis wrote the bit above and the bit below...

Most europeon countries have it RIGHT and Canada and United States have it WRONG. Just admit it.

That level of unintentional comedy is what I live for.

Recent post by NewB>> ‘Kerouac, I hope you realize that you have humiliated and discredited yourself with your remarks on this thread and will consider asking the editors to delete them. justineparis always froths at the mouth when the US is the subject, but you have posted on a trivial thread with real anger. NewB: Your post is somewhat pathetic and strains credulity. There is utterly no ‘respectful suggestion’ in your post, just simplistic and mean attack. Kerouac is not the subject of this thread, nor is Pariswat. Neither of them should feel ‘humiliated or discredited.’ If you disagree with Kerouac, Pariswat and many, many others… so be it. (this also includes NeoPatrick)

Obviously, this tipping debate is passionate. It is worthwhile to listen to everyone’s opinions. You then understand just a little bit more of each culture, North American and European. There is no ‘right or wrong’. Mutual respect is good.

I for one, an American, am solidly in the Kerouac/Pariswat camp!
If you can't take the heat, NewbB, I suggest you get out of the kitchen. Trying to get posts deleted that disagree with your opinions is childish, at best.

Not to belabor the point, NewbB, but can't you see what is happening here? Kerouac and Pariswat are Forum members with a lot of wit and a keen sense of humor. When the opportunity comes along to take a jab at someone one without those qualities, they mildly give a poke. "See NewbE run in circles and spew abuse when he is challenged!"

The fact that there is always enough truth in their challenges to make the rest of us think just adds depth and variety to this thread that is becoming boringly protracted.

You clearly haven't been reading justineparis's posts.

I am not trying to get anything removed, I am saying that kerouac is normally worth reading but has crossed into justine land with his posts on this thread. If he is happy with the way he has represented himself, fine. But I saw him losing his wit and humor. (justine never had any.)

<Kerouac and Pariswat are Forum members with a lot of wit and a keen sense of humor.>
A lot? No. Keen? Hardly. It doesn't bother me, but in 2015 neither does it entertain me. Please reread my posts, nukesafe. I did not "spew abuse". That was justine. Whom I called a fool. Because she is.

<Obviously, this tipping debate is passionate. >
Anyone who feels passionately about the question of tipping must be stark raving mad.

After reading the last dozen posts, it's apparent that the dreaded - and apparently highly-infectious - disease of cranial-rectal inversion is much more widespread that anyone imagined.

Travel forums used to be helpful, but now it's all just a game of "King of the Mountain". Why is everyone so angry about other people's opinions? None of this matters in the real world.
