Paris: the unexplored curiosities

So, this title is more than a bit of a conceit. I never tire of the City of Lights, even as I approach my 30th visit, but I am always looking for new and enjoyable ways to explore it. This July, the approach took the form of two books. The first is Unexplored Paris (https://www.amazon.com/Unexplored-Pa...explored+paris), which I found based on a Stu Dudley recommendation here. It contains about a half-dozen to a dozen items for each arrondissement, making it easy to make your way around its suggestions. The second is the just published (in English) Curiosities Of Paris (https://www.amazon.com/Curiosities-P...ities+of+paris), an extraordinary compilation of dozens and dozens (sometimes more than a hundred) of options for each arrondissement. It's certainly a book that will keep me busy for years to come. In devoting a full week of this trip to the two books, I managed to work my way through the first and second arrondissements for each.

The timing of this trip was based on my desire to be in the city for Bastille Day (yes, I know the French don't use that expression) for the first time. I also took a day to return to Fontainebleau for the first time in more than 20 years.

It's all in the following, in the phototravelogue form (trip report integrated into the photo album captions) which I like to use for these reports.

Very nice. Loved the Bastille Day photos. I want to go see that someday. One of the best things I've done travelling was to go to the dress rehearsal for Trooping the Colour.

FODORITES RULE!

Fantastic photos of our favorite place on the planet. Thanks for posting. You make me want to be there NOW!

People ask us all the time why we keep returning to Paris.....it's the way we feel when we are there. You made some out of the way places come alive.

Magnifique, Mike, both in the concept and the execution.

Reminds me of why I love Paris.
