Staying in Paris hotel on Rue Bourgogne near Rodin Museum in summer... Advice plz. on neighborhood eateries, special shops, cafes etc. Thank you.

Sorry, Luis, I won't be there until September. But I will be checking this thread often! If I remember correctly, I think most of the restaurants would be nearer St. Germain or on the other side of The Invalides.

Le Bistro du 7eme on La Tour-Maubourg just a few blocks from the RER stop at Invalides. This is not far from your street, definitely walking distance, and I really enjoyed my meal. Had very friendly waiter and sat just inside at the window. Sidewalk tables were already booked but after being seated we liked our spot better. In reviewing my own trip report, I had highlighted this restaurant.

Whew! Took me awhile to track this one down in my notes. My husband and I were in Paris in October and had planned to have dinner at the following tiny restaurant on our last night in the city. However, I caught a head cold and opted to wait until our next trip. We did walk by to check it out and it's definitely at the top of my "to do" list. Mon-Fri.<BR><BR>Rue de Bourgogne is perpendicular to the admissions office at the Rodin Museum. Walk a couple of blocks toward the Seine and you'll find the restaurant on your right.<BR><BR>Bon appetit!

Also Luis, rue Cler is within walking distance of the Rodin Museum. We like the Cafe du Marche. Typical Parisian cafe which is open every day, I think. Inexpensive. Loved the salade nicoise.

Betsy,<BR><BR>We stayed at the Grande Hotel Leveque on Rue Cler and ate at the Cafe du Marche a couple of times...and liked it. It appears to be just a nice brasserie frequented primarily by locals.<BR><BR>In the Rue Cler area, which as you know is about a 10 minute walk from the Rodin museum there are a number of small brasseries and restaurants between Rue Cler and the Eiffle Tower. Many of them have pre fixe menus for around 98 FF. We found that the pre fixe menus offer the best value and leave FF's for the wine!<BR><BR>US

There aren't many restaurants right around that area except for the bistro de Breteuil, which I never liked. I'd suggest you head for the Ecole Militaire square and eat around there, in the many restaurants on the Avenue Bosquet or the rue St-Dominique.

ST. Cirq: What is about the Bistro de Breteuil you did not like. We were considering eating there. I'm just curious about your opinion.<BR>Thanks.

Joy, I've dined at Bistro de Breteuil twice now and have enjoyed it very much. I have reservations there with friends in May. When do you plan to be in Paris? I can let you know if it's still on my list of favorites.

One of my favorite places in that neighborhood is the Cafe L'Esplanade by the Latour-Maubourg metro stop. It's part of the Costes group and is a great place for drinks, a pot of tea, lunch or dinner. The cuisine is French with an Asian influence and very good. It's a popular place and reservations are suggested for dinner. The cafe has a terrific view of Les Invalides.<BR>BTilke (Brussels)
