Paris Restaurants - Final Thoughts

First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who participates on this forum. We have found this site and your responses very valuable when we have been planning our 12 day trip to Paris leaving in one month.

From the forum and advice of others, we have been considering the following restaurants. Any final comments?

La Pamphlet
As du Falafel
La Jacobine
FISH (Fish La Boissonerie)
Le Reminet
La Cordonerrie
Cae des Musees
La Gaigne
Les Gourmands de Notre Dame
Café du Marche

Thank you everyone! Merci!

l'As du Falafel is fine if you want a takeaway falafel or lunch or something, but it's not a grand restaurant by any means. I'm not remotely in the league of a foodie nor do I go to the kind of expensive places you are, and I really didn't enjoy sitting in it for very long.

As for the Cafe du Marche, are you talking about that cafe on rue Cler? That isn't a restaurant nor even a very nice cafe, so I wouldn't make a special point or plan to eat there. I could see having a cup of coffee or something if you were in the area and were desperate.

The Cafe du marche is a hole--good for cafe and a croissant IF you are at a hotel near there.

Thank you everyone. You know, someone told me to go to the Cafe du Marche on Rue Cler but he also gave me a picture and it looked like he was just having a coffee.

L'As du Falafel - takeaway for sure one day. Nothing more.

Other than that, we will be going to the market to bring some things to our apartment. We do however want to go out around 4 nights for dinner and we don't want to spend "an arm and a leg" but would like a very good quality food experience at a reasonable price.

Thank you everyone.

We are back and we wanted to share our experience.

For restaurants, we ate and would highly recommend Le Pamphlet, La Maison du Jardin, Le Petite Chais, and Breizh Cafe for their crepes. We ate and were very disappointed with Mon Vielle Ami - very average - big portions - but that's not what counts to us. The others I listed were great experiences and if you go at lunch hour even a better offer for the 3 course meal. We enjoyed lunch at Printemps on the top level with a beautiful view as well.

Being that we had an apartment for 12 days, we did a lot of shopping on Rue du Bretagne in the Marais and brought some wonderful foods home from this Italian Deli, this Butcher shop, Fromaggerie, La Fougasse for wonderful pastries. Our favourite maccaroons came from Pierre Hermes.

With all the hype about L'As du Falafel, we tried it out. Now maybe if we spoke French we would have known how to order. Not that it wasn't tasty but it was too soggy with all the sauces they put in the pita.
