Crunch, I called Le Reminet yesterday for September, no problem.

Senderens was Lucas Carton, a former Michelin 3 star, that was re-invented by the chef/owner into Senderens which is supposed to be much less expensive then it was previously. They pair appropriate wines with each selection in their prix fixe menu.

You could search for it here and at chowhounds for some reviews. By the way, they are also open Sunday evenings which you might want to consider.

Their web site is http://www.lucascarton.com/

<<What did you do after your lunch?>>

The lunch at Jules Verne also marked our last day in Paris, the Monday before we took off for a week in Provence. So, by that Monday we already did the museums and the monuments and the boats on the Seine and ... the Lafayette Gallerie, where I very thoughtlessly turned down my husband's offer to buy me a new Longchamp purse. What possessed me to suddenly be so prudent, I have no clue. So, after lunch, we headed back to the 6th, via taxi so we could get there fast, where my husband bought me this lovely beige purse at a Lonchamp store. There is a great shopping area in the 6th behind Boulevard St. Germain. Your wife would probably love it there, who would not? It was a very nice day.

another vote for Senderens. We ate there last week and it was very good.

If you have previously been to Lucas carton, you will bein for the shock.

Alain Senderens has completely transformed the space and the menu is less expensive. We loved it; albeit no air conditioning the night we were there( I think they have AC, perhaps it was not working? We did not ask, we were ok).

Thanks so much, both of you! I will call Reminet when I return home later this week. And will put Senderens on my list for dinner as well..there was a short article in the NY TImes about the new place several months ago that piqued my interest.... Trouble is, I have more places on my list than nights in Paris!
In addition to Senderens (now) and Le Reminet, I also have Le Pamphlet, L'Entregdeu (sp??), Chez Denise/La Tour (Thursday is pot au feu night), and O a Moelle (excuse atrocious spelling..am using computer in library as am not in my home this week.....) Any comments on any of these? Thanks again!

ekscrunchy- le pamphlet was very very good. i was surprised it was only about 1/2 full the night we were there in may. great choices, large, comfy chairs w/ plenty of space b/t tables, good portions, stellar service (all female staff the night we were there).
l'os a moelle was a disappointment. did not like the atmosphere-direct lights right on you, tables very close together, ok food (was i expecting too much?), best wine of the trip, though-went w/ our server's recommendation. the food was not bad but it was not very inventive. i cannot say enough about our dinner at le troquet-we did the 6 course chef's tasting and it was great. it was our first dinner of the week and everything else paled to some extent.
chez denise was ok. i had heard so much about it and we went for lunch one day. they were lovely and we sat next to 2 french men who shared their wine w/ us and we w/ them. that was a blast but the lamb w/ beans that i was so looking forward to was good, not great.

Marko... sorry for the late response, I don't often look up my posts. Re: Dans le Noir, it was around the same price we ate at other restaurants. I don't think it was a steal nor over the top. I think around 15-17E per meal. But that's just by memory. I think my daughter paid for the meal. It was really very interesting, and very fun! Reservations are definately recommended. We called a few days ahead of time and had to take a 10 p.m. sitting. I think I could be claustrophobic and a the first glass of rose' helped! It was fun to "hear" the other tables, but not see them. I recommend it.

15 to 17E per plate, not including wine. But it could have been more expensive, I just don't remember.

We had a lovely meal at the Cave L'os a Moelle just across the street from the main restaurant plambers reports on. It's a serve your self family style small restaurant. Good food, wine fromt the Cave at retail prices and a chance to visit with other folks at the common tables.
