Paris (Orly) to La Rochelle

Hi, my name is Guilherme Lorenzetti, I'm from Brazil and I'm travelling to La Rochelle to study french for 7 months. My question is, how can I get there? Can I use a transfer car? I know there are airlines and trains, but I don't know which is best - or if the transfer is best. My destination is Paris-Orly then I have to go to La Rochelle.

Thank you for your consideration.
Guilherme Lorenzetti.

You can take the train from PARIS MONTPARNASSE to LA ROCHELLE VILLE in a little over 3 hours. It's about a 5 hour drive.

You have to go into Paris to the Gare Montparnasse to catch a train to La Rochelle. If you buy them online ahead of time you will save money: www.voyages-sncf.com. The train ride is 3 hours.

To get from Orly to the Gare Montparnasse you can take a taxi, a commuter train (RER), or shuttle.

Yes like the others say you can do the whole journey by train. The first part is a regular regional train so you can just get your ticket at the station on the day...

From the airport there is a shuttle that takes you to Pont de Rungis, this is the RER stop near the airport. There, you can get the RER train to Paris St. Michel/Notre dame.

The transfer from Paris St Michel to Paris Montparnasse is a 10-15 walk if you don't have too much baggage:

Book the TGV train from Paris Montparnasse to La Rochelle as soon as it becomes available.

The booking is open further ahead than usual so if you're travelling up to August, you can already book:

Happy travelling!

There is a regional airline that has an Orly-La Rochelle route. It looks like the lowest fare is 69€ one-way.
