Paris Museum Pass

I was considering investing in a Paris Museum Pass for 3 days. On expedia, it says you can not use it on Saturday or Sundays but the main website for the Pass does not state this. Does anybody know whats up?

You can use it all the time. It starts when the first museum date stamps it. (If they remember...)

All you need to consider is that different museums are closed on different days, so you need to plan a little to get the most from your pass, especially for the Louvre and the Orsay museums.

We used the pass several years ago during a summer visit and found it very worthwhile-bypassing long lines at most venues.

They must have gotten the information for something else mixed up with the pass. Don't buy this from Expedia, they mark up the price (as will any travel agency I've seen). They do say the info is from Euroquest, which is some company that is actually running a website called www.museumpass.com. Even they don't say that, however, so Expedia messed it up. They don't even give you the pass if they get it from Euroquest, they give you a voucher so you have to go to a place to get one where you could have bought it anyway at the face value, rather than with a profit for the travel agency. That is really the worst thing about what they are doing, as the markup isn't horrendous ($25 for a pass which I think costs 18 euro now)--still no reason to buy from them.

They also claim you can't use it after 6:30 pm, which isn't true, either (but that is when there aren't lines).

Museums in Paris are not expensive. Unless you plan to spend a great deal of time visiting many museums that are covered by the pass, it's not very economical. Most museums have no waiting lines, either, so getting past a line isn't much of an advantage.

The Orsay always has a line and it is worthwhile there.

We used the 3 day pass in January when we were in Paris. We just purchased it when we got there at the underground when we were buying a carnet of tickets for the subway. Although there were virtually no lines in January we felt it was worthwhile because after we added up the cost of the few "must see's" it wasn't much more and we ended up doing some things we would not have normally done since they were included. Also nice to have fast access to places that usually have bathrooms and were a quick respite from the heat/cold/rain. Do remember to check and see what days the museums/sights you want to see are open and use it for the most advantageous days (3 consecutive).
