Paris metro tix

Hi,

My brother gave me some unused metro tickets (the little purple ones) from his trip back in April. Do they expire after a certain amount of time?

Thanks!

The purple ones are relatively new, and cover regional SNCF trains as well. RATP's Q&A on how long the old (turquoise) tickets will be valid says

"Vous pouvez utiliser ces tickets comme actuellement, pendant un an à partir du 1er janvier 2003."

So the implication is that tickets are valid for a year. But there's nothing lost by taking them on your next trip and seeing what happens.

I've had tickets rejected by the machine. However, if unused, the ticket agent at the station will usually replace it for a valid one.

no, they don't expire, you can use them for years (I have). I suppose they could get damaged and not work or something, but they definitely are valid. YOu could just take them and try them, anyway, there's no risk in that.

Last year I found some tickets, turquoise, that were at least four years old. We used them with no problem. I have some from last year, I forget the color and will be using them in less than two weeks.

Thanks, everyone! We would have taken them, but it's nice to know in advance!

I've used Metro tickets leftover from prior trips with no problem.
