How to tell if my Paris Metro tickets (t+) have been used
Hi all...
We're going back to Paris and have discovered a couple of t+ Metro tickets left over from a carnet we bought last trip in 2011.
Is there a way to tell whether they have been used by looking at the tickets? -- There's always a chance that we just forgot to throw them out after we used them.
I understand that they do not expire -- assuming the fare hasn't increased...is that correct? The single fare was 1.70€ then and seems to the the same now...though the carnet price has increased since then,
Thanks.

Try and use them and if they don't take then they've been used. That's what I do. It's not worth my time to try and figure it out.
The machines stamp the tickets so if there are black stamps on the edges they have been used.

I had some leftover carnet tickets which I knew had not been used.
They did not work but the ticket booth was right there. The attendant somehow checked
the tickets, confirmed they were virgin, and simply gave me replacements.
She said they sometimes lose their magnetism.

Even if the fare has gone up, they're good if they're unused. If you can't see the black inky stamps on them that show they've been used, take them to a ticket window and they'll replace them if they're unused.

This is useful info. I have about 10 tickets left over from 2010 and have been wondering if I can use them for my upcoming trip. I also have an older Navigo card, which I' m hoping will still be usable, and refillable. I'm sure I look older now, but maybe they won't look at the picture!

Thanks, all...
My tickets look brand new without any hint of a stamp on the back...but we'll know when we get there.
It's also good to know our Navigo cards are good (even though we've got a few more gray hairs on our heads). We're arriving on a Tuesday, so we'll be adding a week pass on arrival at CDG. That and a carnet (or two) should get us through to the middle of the next week.
BTW...we actually still have our Cartes Oranges that we bought in 2001 and have kept as souvenirs.

I will be arriving terminal 2A. In the past we have always taken bus 351 from there to Nation. Is there a place to purchase carnet metro tickets at that location? Previously husband was French speaking so no problem. He passed away 2 yrs ago and this is my first solo trip to Paris. I enjoy the bus even though long to start to get the flavor & feeling of Paris. Also lodging is just a 5 min walk from Nation. Thanks for all your info

Are you asking about purchasing tickets t+ at CDG or at Nation?
At CDG, you may purchase 10 tickets t+, for 13.70€, at Roissypol or at the RER station in Terminal 2.
There is a métro station at Nation where you may purchase the tickets. The 351 bus, as well as the 350 bus to/from Gare de l´Est, require a fare of 3 tickets to travel the entire distance of the line from Paris to/from CDG.
You should also be able to purchase tickets from the driver at 2€ each.

Nation is a hub for both the métro and RER but if you want to buy tickets there you'll need to take stairs underground to where the ticket machines are. You can also purchase carnets of métro tickets (ticket t+) from any tabac displaying the green RATP sign outside.

I am topping this as we also have unearthed several t+ tickets that I am pretty sure are unused. They have a series of numbers in black ink on the back -- (i.e. 67939814 25-- there are 4 with that number and 9 with another similar number, all the same. )
There is no date stamp on front or back. I am assuming these are unused as well??

Those numbers are the batch numbers, referring to when and where they were purchased. Unless you see any other numbers on the tickets, they are most probably unused.
As others have mentioned, tickets often become scratched or de-magnetized, so might require replacement at the ticket window, if they don't work.

The people at the guichet were always helpful to me when I was trying to figure out what was used or not.
IMPORTANT:
Make sure you don't use all of them on this trip, though.
I always found it convenient to use my unused billets as my excuse to return to Paris...
...just as my unused Toilet Cards were my excuse to return to Venice.
