Although you can buy a carnet in most metro stations, it's usually quicker and easier to buy them at any Tabac. Look on the street for any shop or bar with the sign 'Tabac,' and ask for a carnet. (The metro tickets I buy at Tabac have a glued edge, like a pad of paper, while the ones at metro station are loose.)
