Don't worry about a wet blanket or two. That flat looks really nice for its price range, and is large for a 1 bdrm. The balcony, full kitchen, queen sized bed, nice furniture, oriental carpets. . . .

I have seen better - but they generally cost a LOT more, and I've definitely seen worse for more €€. I'd certainly feel comfortable staying there.

Wer stayed near Place Clichy several years ago and walked through it again just last week. Place Clichy has been upscaled quite a bit since our previous visit, so if the apartment is near there you will have quite a lot of urban activity not far away. It isn't too distant from the more "central" areas, as far as I am concerned.

Of course, we took an apartment this time (for the month of May) on the street which is the eastern border of Jardin des Plantes so we could experience a different neighborhood from our previous visits, and some would say it is also "too far" from the more prominent tourist areas. That was our intention!!

Iregeo - I stayed in the Batignolles area - rue de Rome - in November '06. I really liked being out of the main tourist area but it was easy to travel all over, and my apartment was a good few blocks to the Metro. It was my seventh trip and second in an apartment. Enjoy!

This thread has surely influenced us, so I will resurrect it. We are arranging to rent the Truffaut apartment for May 1-29 next Spring, in part based on comments we read here. As noted just above (May 25, 2008, we "discovered" the lower Batignolles area when we wandered a bit from Place de Clichy in 2008 and decided it would be a good place to consider living in on our next trip.

d_claude_bear, I'm so happy for you! I doubt you'll be disappointed. How many are in your party?

I'm soooooooo jealous! A month in Paris...

Irego--Just my wife and me. On previous trips when we rented an apartment we invited some family members to visit for a week or so, but this time we don't want to have to supervise anyone else, so we won't do that. In 2008, we were in Paris 30 April to 1 June in an apartment on the eastern border of Jardin des Plantes (also a little off the main tourist path) but we did break down one morning and visit r Cler, made famous by Rick Steves. It was cute, but after previous explorations in Paris we prefer walking around in places like Auteuil, Belleville/Buttes Chaumont, Av de Choisy/Av d'Ivry, etc. We are looking forward to being housed in the 17e.

BTW, does anyone know how to find on the internet a detailed map of the Bois de Boulogne? Last time, we hiked along paths near its perimeter but were reluctant to walk far afield without a better map that the section of the Michelin 10 (Paris Plan-Sens unique) we had with copied to bring with us.

I usually just go to Google maps - this one is good because you can go from map to satellite to hybrid and zoom in/out. The hybrid may be the most helpful.

janisj--Thanks for the link. I looked at it, and it can be helpful, but I am hoping for an equally-detailed map that covers the entire place in one piece. I probably can't print something like what I want from the Internet, but perhaps someone knows where I can buy one??? Does the city government sell such a map?
