Paris in August: What to bring/wear?

Hello fellow travelers: I like to pack light, dress American casual (denim and sneakers mostly), but I also would like to be able to go to a nice place if necessary without looking like the ugly Americaine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Jaeger,
what to wear in Paris seeems to be a recurring theme on this board - if you type paris & dress into the search box you'll get a multitude of threads full of advice. I personally would prefer not to wear jeans & sneakers in Paris but as long as you are dressed neatly you will not be considered an 'ugly american' - of course dress codes are in place for nice restaurants etc.

in August you don't need any clothes in Paris as no one is there....just tourists....so dress as you wish...

I'm so glad that the Pup has found a new transitional life on this posting and that it is au fait with the latest Paris fashion scene.

Jaeger,
Bring a sun hat and/or umbrella to keep the sun off of you. The only time I went to Paris in August it was HOT.

worried,
Pup tried on a hat the other day at the pet shop, and ran backwards. So I think that he might just want to stay in the museums or cafes in the serious heat of the day.Or do what Pup loves to do best, nap.
