Paris in August: What to bring/wear?
Hello fellow travelers: I like to pack light, dress American casual (denim and sneakers mostly), but I also would like to be able to go to a nice place if necessary without looking like the ugly Americaine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Jaeger,
what to wear in Paris seeems to be a recurring theme on this board - if you type paris & dress into the search box you'll get a multitude of threads full of advice. I personally would prefer not to wear jeans & sneakers in Paris but as long as you are dressed neatly you will not be considered an 'ugly american' - of course dress codes are in place for nice restaurants etc.

in August you don't need any clothes in Paris as no one is there....just tourists....so dress as you wish...
|
Is Paris one of the clothes optional cities in France?
Really Worried Now
|
the Pup is wearing brown fur, sunglasses by Rayban, and at night something black.
|
I'm so glad that the Pup has found a new transitional life on this posting and that it is au fait with the latest Paris fashion scene.
|
John,
the Pup thanks you and we are happy to know that some people are so advanced thinking as to appreciate a good Pup.
|
Jaeger,
Bring a sun hat and/or umbrella to keep the sun off of you. The only time I went to Paris in August it was HOT.
|
Are you going to bring one for the Pup as well? Geez I hope so.
|
worried,
Pup tried on a hat the other day at the pet shop, and ran backwards. So I think that he might just want to stay in the museums or cafes in the serious heat of the day.Or do what Pup loves to do best, nap.
