Hi Beantown---

Another vote for Hotel Le A & Sezz. I think they'd fit the bill quite nicely!

I also really like the following:

Go Sox!

I thought of staying in Axial Beaubourg but switched to Pavillon Bastille last summer. However, there was a thread on here discussing these Marais hotels and someone who had just been there talked about it and it definitely does not sound as nice as it looks online. Mainly, I think it is overpriced for what it is but especially in low season of August when they were there (maybe Sioban).

I think Btilke gives excellent advice in this regard, and the Sezz sounds great. Lots of these hotels sounds great, but even if in euro, I think that budget is pretty low for the type of accommodation desired, although if beantown gets lucky in that regard, so much the better. I don't know what the season is we're talking about -- that can affect rates quite a bit.

I had a thought that I know is just above the upper end here at 260 euro for a double -- the new 4* Le Walt in the 7th. It is hip style and is supposed to have a good restaurant and bar, and that would be a nice neighborhood for convenience and strolling (it's near La Motte Piquet metro). They DO accept dogs, also. I don't think they have that spa/steam room thing, but I think that's an unlikely amenity at that price range. A lot of places that say they have that which are modest, it's not going to amount to much, I bet, or even be a place you want to go. Here's one URL for them, they might have their own:
