I will be staying at the concorde la fayette hotel in Paris. Is it child friendly? Also, how far is it from the champs elysee? Will it be possible to walk to the champs elysee? Is the hotel in a safe area? As you can see it is my first time going to Paris and we have booked this hotel because my husband got a good deal.

I don't know what the hotel is like, but it's behind the Palais de Congres, a business/convention center near Porte Maillot -- to the west of the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees. You could certainly walk from there, but it's not just a couple blocks. I'm guessing, but maybe about 1/2 mile or little more. It's not far from a metro stop, though, that will take you right to the Champs in a few stops. I think it's probably a safe enough area although a little out of the center of things. A lot of business people will stay around there for convention reasons. Hopefully someone who stayed there can be more specific.

I agree with Christina's comments in general. I attended a medical meeting and stayed there in 1994 - - as Paris hotels go, it is somewhat "luxe" and "sterile" at the same time, in an attempt to be American/cosmopolitan accommodating.

And also think it is a pretty good sized walk for a child under 8-10 just to get to l'Etoile/Arc de Triomphe (start of the Champs Elysees).

I've stayed there a number of times on business. It's a big 'ol business type hotel that also seems to be popular with tours also. Lobby can be hectic at check in/out so allow plenty of time or take them up on the "quick checkout".

Can't speak to child friendly, but staff is competent and efficient.

Area is not as interesting as others but is plenty safe, as is almost all of Paris. Lots of small cafes and restruants ( even a Pub) close by.

It's close to Porte Maillot Metro stop that will take you down the Champs Elysee. You can stop at the Arch and stroll from there. You can also enter the Louve from the metro stop and avoid the long lines above.

And . . Porte Maillot , close to the hotel, is also a stop for the one of the Main Bus lines that runs up and down the Champs Elysee. I try to take the buses as often as possible in order to see more of the city.

The trip at night is not to be missed.

We stayed there in 1996, sterile and nothing parisian about it but safe and clean, the rooms are small. I agree that the metro is close and will take you where you want. It's a busy area. They serve american food in the downstairs restaurant. There's nothing particularly child friendly about it but nothing really is in Paris. The parcs in Paris will be a nice place to bring your child and let them run around and spend some time in the sun. Seek those out in your guidbook before you leave.

We stayed nearby at the Le Meridien 10 yrs. ago. It's not a charming area. It is central to the metro for sure but not much variety for restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is a typical high-rise.
