I haven't stayed in either hotel but I live here and there is a huge difference between the locations. One hotel is on a enormous, busy and very impersonal street in a business district.
The other is in the cute little rue des Canettes surrounded by St Germain and its charming shops and good restaurants with two good little microbreweries within spitting distance.
Guess it depends on your priorities...

Personally I would stay at La Perle, both for the hotel and the location. here's what people who stayed said about it:

Hotel La Perle (3 star left bank)-
Very clean, safe and comfortable
I loved it - went back
Loved that hotel
For more Paris information e-mail me: [email protected]

Go for La Perle. You'll get a better feeling of Paris in the that area.
The Champs-Elysées are not Paris, although it seems to be a must for most visitors to have a walk there.

Stayed off the Champs d'Elysee; nothing special. Go for St. Germain de pres area instead.
