Paris Hotel

I am looking for a nice, relatively cheap hotel (or even a hostel) for myself and my teen son for three days in Paris, early June. Any suggestions?

It would help if you tell us what "relatively cheap" means to you in dollars or euros. Paris should be beautiful in June, have fun!

I have not stayed at Hotel Monge but it seems to gets good reviews by Fodorites. Location and price are appealing also.

I like Hotel Monge also, I think it was about 110E for a double when I stayed 18 months ago. I am not sure I would say that it is relatively cheap but my budget is low when I travel. I do insist on A/C in the summer and Hotel Monge has it.

We decided on the Grande Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in the Marias. Great reviews, great location (if you like the Marais)84E for a double in May. You have to email the hotel directly to ask about availability and they fill up fast.

Vera55 - Some good rates have been put forward. You can stay for even less if you stay away from the touristy arrondissements but will get the same size room. You mention even considering a hostel so a chain-type hotel doesn't seem a problem.

Have a look at the Ibis Paris La Defense, Blvd. de Neuilly La Defense.
During the week the rates are around 120Euros but come Friday they drop down to 65euros and even further if you book a 3day special at 48.75euros.
Breakfast from 4am to 12noon for 7.50euros.

I would love to hear from Kerouac on this one - the photos on their website look fantastic. It's 10 min direct to the Champs Eylsees, and if one stops off at the Argentine metro and walk around the immediate neighborhood there seems to be some interesting cafes & bistro type eateries.

Are there any negatives anyone would care to mention?

Other hotels that may be of interest:

Etap La Villette - 52 euros anyday of the week.

Mister Bed City Paris Bagnole - $69

A hostel that is favorably reviewed here and elsewhere is Le Village Hostel near the Anvers metro station. There are also cheaper places to eat in that area than there are in the more affluent parts of town. You can book a private ensuite room:

I looked up timhotels, which is a chain that has basic rooms. They have multiple hotels in Paris, some further out, some central. I saw a rate of 225 euros for 3 nights at one of them, June 2-5

vera55, last October, my daughter and I stayed across the street from Notre Dame, right on the Ile de la Cite. It is the Hotel Hospitel Dieu. It is a renovated top floor section of the oldest hospital in Paris. You can't beat it for price, cleanliness or location!

We paid 110E per night and there is a metro station right outside the front door, as well as a taxi stand. When you walk out the front door, you are literally looking at the front door of Notre Dame Cathedral! And though the room was small (as are most European rooms), the bathroom was huge and had a full tub and a removable shower head.

Here is the link:

Not only is it a great bargain and great location- but it sure is a unique place to stay!

Have fun!

There are many bargain hotels in the outer areas, but,, for ony three nights stay somewhere central, its worth it .

Hotel du College De France( it may too late to get in here, very popular)
Hotel Des Grande Hommes
Hotel Eugenie( I am staying here in July, excellant location, don't know about rooms, lol)
Hotel des Ecoles
Hotel Minerve( this one well recommended and fairly cheap)
