Paris Foodie trip
Taking my future chef dtr. to Paris in may,2008. Will attempt to stay in the 7e -Hotel Duquesne or Champs de Mars.
Want to sign her up for a cooking class and have a few ideas but has
anyone actually done this? Also plan
to visit some open air markets.
Suggestions?
P.S. Saw this in Italy - liquor called absinthe? Tried it?

A visit to E. Dehillerin is an absolute must visit for any future (or present) chef (or any serious cook for that matter).

And some reviews:

It's conveniently located at little behind the Louvre. It's about a 4 block walk from either the Louvre-Rivoli Metro stop or the Les Halles Metro stop.

Hi T,
There is a very nice market on Saturday at at Pl Breteuil.
A not unpleasant residential neighborhood with a nice view of the Eiffel Tower.
The market is top notch. Products from Italy, Spain and Greece as well as from all over France.

In addition to the market Ira and I suggested , my other favorite is the Richard Lenoir at Bastille on Sundays.
Make a trip to rue Montmartre for kitchen and dining equipment. There are several stores along the street, my favorite being A.Simon.
