Paris Foodie trip
Taking my future chef dtr. to Paris in may,2008. Will attempt to stay in the 7e -Hotel Duquesne or Champs de Mars.
Want to sign her up for a cooking class and have a few ideas but has anyone actually done this? Also plan to visit some open air markets. Suggestions? P.S. Saw this in Italy - liquor called absinthe? Tried it? |
One of my favorite street markets is in the 7e, the saxe-Breteuil, on Thus. and Sat.Don't miss it
|
A visit to E. Dehillerin is an absolute must visit for any future (or present) chef (or any serious cook for that matter).
http://www.e-dehillerin.fr/en/index.php And some reviews: http://tinyurl.com/dxoob It's conveniently located at little behind the Louvre. It's about a 4 block walk from either the Louvre-Rivoli Metro stop or the Les Halles Metro stop. |
Hi T,
There is a very nice market on Saturday at at Pl Breteuil. A not unpleasant residential neighborhood with a nice view of the Eiffel Tower. The market is top notch. Products from Italy, Spain and Greece as well as from all over France. ((I)) |
Thanks to all for the suggestions!
I am sure I'll have more ?? as the trip nears. |
In addition to the market Ira and I suggested , my other favorite is the Richard Lenoir at Bastille on Sundays.
Make a trip to rue Montmartre for kitchen and dining equipment. There are several stores along the street, my favorite being A.Simon. |
