Is this the market at the Clingancourt stop on the Metro?

Three years ago we went there and we encountered mostly sale of carved heads, African tribal ware, etc..

Did we zig when we should have zagged?

Please provide first hand info on just what we might find here. Besides antiques are there arts and craft items like you might find in a Provencal outdoor market?

Yes it is and you have to walk through the street stall market to get to the main market. Its a few minutes walk from the metro stop. There are not art and craft items as far as i know.

The market is mostly on the other side of the périphérique (expressway) in Saint Ouen -- you have to walk under the expressway overpass to get to the flea market.

Yes, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) you missed the true Marche aux Puces which is a rabbit warren of allees of very high end antique shops and "malls". As someone said, you need to walk across the large avenue under the Perpherique to reach it. All the stalls, etc. are just junk stuff. I have pretty much quit going--it is just eye-wateringly expensive. I can buy almost anything cheaper in the US. It used to be fun and "affordable". For a quick look at a "flea" go to the Vanves market--or one of the week-end brocantes that are advertised in the Pariscope.

Just click on Plan de Puces on the link I posted and the map will show you where to walk; the market we liked, where not everything was priced high, was Vernaisson, but there are about 10 others within the area. If you read my report you will get a fair idea of what you would have in store if you decide to make the trip. One word of advice, go early in the day on the weekend to avoid the worst crowds.

For Art and Crafts, try the Creation MArket at Bastille on Saturdays.

The Marche Parisien de la Creation in Montparnasse is held Sundays year round at the foot of the Montparnasse tower on the blvd. Edgar Quinet.

The Marche Parisien de la Creation Bastille is held Saturdays on the blvd. Richard Lenoir between rue Amelot and rue Saint-Sabin. Metro Bastille or Bréguet-Sabin.

I see different hours listed on different sites, but both appear to begin around 9 or 10 AM and go until 7 or 7:30 PM.
