Paris @ Christmas

We'll be at Disney Paris from 12/23 - 12/30 and plan on making daily trips into Paris. What is the best method of transportation from CDG airport to Mariott Disney (for 6 people) and best way to daily get into Paris? Thanks! Is Paris Disney worth a visit (our kids ar 16 +)

You'll be more apt to get a response if you re-post with Disney in the title. Paris at Christmas is quite a broad subject.

Hi pgwhons,

I'm confused - you say that you are staying at Disney for 7 days, but aren't sure if it's worth seeing.

Wouldn't it be more logical to stay in Paris and make a day trip to Disney, if you really want to?

Just trying to help

regards, ann

Personally, I can't imagine spending one minute at Paris Disney. France is full of REAL castles, REAL magic...why on earth waste your time in a pretend, corporate-generated amusement park? If you had five-year-olds...maybe. But 16+?

And if you are going, stay in Paris where the real sights are and schlep to Disney for one (oh so tragic, in my opinion) day.

who knows, maybe they got some free accommodations.

If you are going to/from Paris everyday, a transport pass would be the best idea. That is in zone 5. You'll have almost a week, so the timing is good for a Carte Orange weekly unlimited travel pass, five zones. That is supposed to go away in 2008 sometime, so you could just ask for the pass Navigo Decouverte, which is a modern version of it, but an electronic card. YOu have to pay five more euro for it than the CO, otherwise I think they are the same price (32.1 euro for a week of unlimited travel in five zones). YOu must have a small passport-sized photo for either, though.

After those choices, or if you don't have a photo, you could get the Paris Visite for six zones for five days at 47 euro. That would still be better than buying individual tickets each day or daily unlimited passes (which are 12.5 euro per day -- the Mobilis). Your children must pay the same prices at that age for any of these tickets.

I really don't know the best way to get there, but would suggest you take a taxi as both the airport and Disneyland are in zone 5, and it's about 15-20 miles (about same distance as to Paris). Six people is a bunch, but you can ask in the taxi line -- I know they'll take five, not sure about six. They do have some public bus to Disneyland from CDG, but you'd have to ask at the airport about it.

This shuttle charges 140 euro for six, which seems a bit much to me

I mean, even if you needed two taxis, I don't think it would cost cost 70 euro from CDG to Disneyland. Here's another at 120 euro

I would get the taxi fare would be around 50 euro.

If you like DIsney the park is well worth going to, if you don't.... then it's not! It's actually a beautiful park and the details exceed those in the American parks.

I spent Christmas Day 2005 there and it was fun. Cold, but fun. We did it because we knew it would be open and busy. (Paris was pretty much closed LOL!)

The train into Paris is quite efficent. Not sure if there are any weekly deals to and from there, but it was easy.

Carol - that is a good idea... my girls want to go to Disney in Paris on our trip -- and I have been challenged with "what is open on Christmas!"
