Paris - CDG Terminal 2 Work
Word has it that folks landing at Paris CDG terminal 2 are often having to take a bus in from the plane which parks relatively far away on the tarmac while work is ongoing to expand terminal 2
this of course slows down arriving passengers greatly so if making TGV train reservations, etc. from the airport train station keep this possible delay in mind - even Air France flights end up with bus shuttles i guess.

This has been going on for quite a while (years?) now...
Anyway, why the the most popular tourist destination in Europe has the worst airport remains a mystery!?! Maybe running an efficient, user friendly airport really is rocket science?

What's strange about all of these reports is that from my own experience, one very rarely has to take the bus between the plane and the terminal.
Of course with so many American airlines in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in recent years, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if I discovered that it is there airlines themselves that are choosing to use the buses to reduce the airport service costs. I generally avoid using the American carriers, so that is probably the reason that my planes are connected to the jetway.
It's all a question of which airline wants to pay for better service -- it's too easy to claim that it is the airport's fault.

We had to take the bus at Terminal 2 last week. We flew Air France from the U.S. I'm not sure it added a lot of time to our arrival.
We still had to wait for the luggage after going through immigration. Although it may take them longer to bring the luggage in when the plane is out on the tarmac.

On the Air France flight from Miami in November, we were connected to the terminal, but my luggage took the long way to the baggage belt. It also arrived completely soaked by the pouring rain (I use canvas bags) -- you just never know.

When I flew out of CDG on Air Canada nearly 6 years ago, we got bused to the airplane. It was a pretty long and crowded ride, too. Guess I'll find out if Air Canada passengers still get bused when I go back to Paris this April. Something exciting to look forward to. *Sigh*

Our last several AA flights into CDG all landed way out on the tarmac, with buses transporting passengers to the terminals. As I was then in a wheelchair I got instead to read on a Star Wars sort of contraption: way up in the air in a small room that was driven by the operator below. Very interesting experience.
