Paris CDG airport -- Taxi or Limo?

My wife and I will be arriving at Paris CDG in mid-October and prefer a limo or taxi to our Left Bank hotel. An earlier post suggested I check with Shuttle-Inter and their rates are 55e for 2 for limo service, so wonder if taxi would be about the same cost (or less) since Id prefer the limo, all things being relatively equal. Thanks.

Taxi will run between 50-60 euro. But remember taxis have a meter and if you get into heavy traffic the meter keeps running. That happened to us on our last trip , we were stalled around 20 minutes on the peripherique coming into Paris

My experience is that a taxi to this area will cost 45€ to 50€ (my last trip was 45€). There are now special taxi lanes along A1 from CDG into Paris which allow taxis to avoid congestion and backups. The last several taxis I have taken from CDG had GPS´s with traffic information displays allowing them to bypass known traffic delays.

Some people prefer private shuttles such as the one you name but often times there is a wait for the van to show at the airport. Shuttles are an American import to Paris and with there being a good number of transfer possibilities already in place, this option fills no real vacant need. Reliability remains a constant concern with all shuttle operators.

Some people like the fact that a shuttle van has no meter. Others like knowing that there is always a taxi just a few steps from baggage claim.

Shuttle Inter is not a shared shuttle. We somewhat used them last summer, but I wouldn't recommend them. In past trips we used taxis and never had an issue. Last summer though we booked Shuttle Inter and they were not dependable. Upon arrival they were not there and it took several phone calls before they showed up.

We reconfirmed our departure with them with the driver as well as via email during the week, yet they once again were not there for us. But this time they didn't show up at all. Good thing our apt was not far from a taxi stand! BTW, our ride back to the airport was only 39 euro, this was for 2 people including luggage, from near the Louvre.

We used Shuttle-Inter for several trips around Paris, thence to Versailles (where our driver waited while we toured), up to Disney and to and from the airport (CDG) our last trip and they were always on time. We did not have a "limo," however, but a van for the 5 of us. We recommended them to good friends who also used them and had nothing but praise.

Enjoy your trip.

After years of using taxis (and in recent years the fares have all been over 50 euro), I used Shuttle-Inter for two round trips last year and was very pleased with the service. I would highly recommend them.

I have had the experience of a taxi not showing up at the hotel so no means of transportation is 100% foolproof. Until I have a bad experience with Shuttle-Inter, I will continue to use them.

Worst case scenario, if Shuttle-Inter would not be on time at CDG, you could just take a taxi b/c you do not pay in advance. If I had concerns about their not showing up for the return to CDG, I'd book a taxi for that.

I use www.airport-connection.com. Just used them again a few months ago. The company was recommended to me, in 2008, by the owner of one of the apartments that I rent.

I've taken a lot of shuttle companies in Paris, for well over a decade, and have been fine with them. I like not having a ticking taxi meter, as I am usually one person.

In 2009, a Parisian friend and I took a taxi, to his apartment in the north end of the 10th, and it was over 50 Euros. I usually stay in the 6th, which is further.

And like grandmere says above, no transportation is 100% foolproof. I've been stuck in the RER which broke down on the way to CDG. When I finally got out, I had to rush to street level and take a taxi the rest of the way. I always have enough leftover money in case of such a situation.

I've also had a no-show taxi, too. It was in 2009. It was even after my Parisian friend reconfirmed the reservation and a message was left on his answering machine reconfirming it. Still a no show and I was on my way to CDG for my flight home. So, stuff happens.

What I do with www.airport-connection.com is on the reservation for the return trip to CDG, I click on the 45-minute or the 1-hour earlier, than what they recommend, for a pick up time. They have always either been right on time or up to nearly half an hour earlier than what I have clicked on on one trip. But, the driver didn't rush me and the two Aussie passengers inside were fine with me taking a few extra minutes to get my things and get down to street level as they were picked up a bit early, too. Happy Travels!

Our trip from CDG to the 8th was 39 euro two people with bags. Daughter's trip from the 10th to CDG was 48 euro but she had three large bags.

We have taken a limo/car service several times in various European cities and I kinda like the little bit of specialness after a long flight. To me it is worth the few extra euro. I thnk this time we forgot to make plans in advance for a car service but the taxi was very fast and was just fine.

For a return trip to CDG particularly, it´s is difficult to really know that travel arrangements were a ¨no show¨ unless you made the reservation personally.

When you want to return to the airport, I recommend you contact Taxi G7 yourself. Call them the day before your desired departure:

Shuttle Inter operates with vans. They do not use limousines.

Left bank is half of Paris so your destination is a mystery.

I use Les Cars Air France to get to Gare Montparnasse. My favorite hotel is walking distance.
