Paris Cabs with Carseat

I was wondering if someone could give me an update on cabbing from CDG to the 6th? We've rented an apt for a week, and are travelling 6 adults, 1 toddler. We will have a car seat, and want to know if it's reasonable to expect that all cabs will have seat belts? We're thinking we'll have to take 3 cabs - any idea on approx cost to the 6th? Any other invaluable tips for travelling with baby?
Thanks ahead for any help you can provide.
Louise

Seat belts are obligatory in France for everyone in both the front seat and the back seat.

Taxis in France have a legal obligation to take 4 passengers if necessary, including one in the front seat. Many do not respect this obligation and could receive a hefty fine if caught.

However, at a taxi stand, passengers have the right to choose any taxi in the line, so you can ask each and every driver how many passengers they will take. Since a lot of the taxis are minivans, I really do not think that you will need to take 3 taxis.

In terms of the cost, it is variable depending on the day of the week and the time of day. During the day on a weekday, you can expect to pay around 25 euros to get to the 6th if there are no traffic jams.

I am not a shuttle expert, but you can expect someone to intervene here shortly and tell you that your group can get a shuttle all to themselves at a much better rate than taking several taxis.

Thank you both for your helpful information. I had read in earlier postings that shuttles are difficult because they have to park much farther out than cabs, and it's a real hassle if they don't show. That was my choice in the beginning, but after reading several negative comments, I was beginning to think the cab idea was better. I'm most concerned about the reliability of a shuttle on our trip BACK to the airport. I'll definitely check into the shuttle recommended. Any others out there who have used this firm? Thanks again everyone.

Every time I have taken a shuttle from CDG into the city the shuttle has picked me up at one of the terminal entrances; there was no issue with a shuttle having to "park farther out."

I have yet to be fortunate enough to get a cab that only costs 25 Euro but guess I have always arrived at the wrong time because if Kerouac says it is possible then I believe it.

With 6 people and a lap toddler , a shuttle would probably cost more than a taxi...just wait for a van type taxi at the taxi stand. We've had a 6 person pick up with no problem...but we did not each have 2 bags! even 2 regular taxis would be less that the prestige cab service prices suggested.

What I dislike about most shuttles is having to phone to tell them you've arrived!!

Last two times in June'06 a taxi from CDG to the 6th and back cost us around 50EUR each way, for 4 people. Perhaps it was just us

We generally pay 40-45 Euros for a taxi from CDG to the 16th (2 or 3 persons), 25 Euros would be for the north of Paris (the 6th would be similar to the 16th in terms of price : a bit closer but more difficult to navigate by car once inside)

You will fit in two cabs if a van cab isn't available. We have never had any problem getting a cab for 4. The price will be in the range of 50E per cab--have NEVER paid 25E from CDG--I have to think that he might have meant 45E, which we have done.

Actually, I do live in the north of Paris, so I should have added at least 10 euros to my estimate.
