Paris birthday dinner
Ok..it's a fifty something birthday but we will be in Paris. It will be our last night in Paris(having been there for a week at the start of our trip and following two weeks in the South of France). We have reservations at L'Avant Gout Friday night but would like something festive without being stiff on Saturday. Many of our favorites are closed on Saturday(Astier being one of them).I'd considered Chez Michel and L'Ardoise and they are both still possibilities. Any thoughts on either and any recommendations for something else. We'll be staying in the 6th but will be metro savy by then and do not have a flight out of CDG until 12:15 the next afternoon.

I don't know what you mean by festive, but if you are seeking an intimate spot, one of my favorites is Armand au Palais Royale. We dined there on our last night in Paris last week and it was wonderful, as always. There is a description on reservethebest.com. Location is at the north end of the Palais Royale.

Both in the 7th:
Les Ormes, 22 rue Surcouf, phone: 01.45.51.46.93
Le Clos des Gourmets. 16 ave Rapp. phone: 01.45.51.75.61
I haven't been to Chez Michel but hear good things. Happy birthday...I always try to celebrate mine in Paris. My theory is it doesn't count if you're there. You just get younger instead.
