Special place for last night in Paris

Any suggestions for a memorable (reasonable) place for a family of four to have their last dinner in Paris before flying home the next day?

Hi Paskee,

I hate these kinds of responses, but ... how reasonable, and where are you staying in Paris?

Staying in 7th (Rue du Colonel Combes) and reasonable - not sure what that means in Paris.

My own sense of reasonable and memorable, and some Paris dining experience, for a grand finale, adds up to about 30 euros a person without wine or coffee. Are there youngsters in your family of four?

Of course there's no reason to limit yourselves to the 7th arrondissement, but since limits can be useful, I'm going to toss off a few suggestions in that arrondissement based solely on "book learning" and let people who know better than I (since I live a world away in the friendly 11th arrondissement) correct me.

L'Affriole, 17 rue Malar
Au Bon Acueuil, 14 rue Montlessuy
Le Clos des Gourmets, 16 avenue Rapp

Reserve, and have a wonderful time, wherever you dine!

Youngsters 14 & 10, so not little kiddies - they'd be also looking for a magical last night.

Sorry. I have no idea how I ended up making that post twice.

I thought I had posted twice, but now it looks as if my reply didn't get posted even once. I recommended Astier in the 11th (44, rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud; Metro, Parmentier) which our 10 and 15 year olds really liked. It's not "magical", but it is very Parisien - simple and correct - and the food was wonderful and very reasonable. The four of us ate for under $100 in 2000. If this makes it seem like an old recommendation, Astier is still making lists of favorite and recommended places to eat. Even if you don't choose it for your last night, it might be worth checking out for lunch with the kids some day.

Astier is a very nice place. We used to live seven doors down on the other side of the street! Here's their Web site: http://www.restaurant-astier.com/index.php

No English, but soothing music and good photos.

I'd suggest Bistrot du Bretuil at 3 Place du Bretuil, 15th. Prix fixe at E32 including everthing from a Kir Royal to wine, dessert and coffee. It's a lovely red-velvet, really Parisy kind of atmosphere and there is plenty of options on the prix fixe (there is no a la carte). Another really nice brasserie is Chez Andre at 12 rue Marbeuf, 8th. Another real Parisian atmosphere, also not too expensive.

we always stay in the 7th too. our favorite ways to spend our last night is at chez eux. after that, we go to the top of the arc d triomphe and then walk down the champ lysees (sp?). or else we eat in the marias (au bascou) and then walk home along the seine.
