Paris Auto Rental

I will be arriving at CDG and renting a car for a week in Burgandy and then returning to Paris. Have rented an apartment in 5th Arr, near Lux Garden. How difficult will it be to drive into the city to return the car? Should I just go back to the airport? Also any car rental companies to recommend? Thanks

It is extremely easy to drive into the city. It has paved streets and everything. People drive on the right. There are traffic signals and policemen.

Get your car through www.autoeurope.com. The best places to return the car are in the train stations -- 7 days a week and long hours. You should plan to return your car at Gare de Lyon.

If you rent your car through Autoeurope they give you the locations where you can return the car. Check the distance from your apartment and the hours they are open

Another vote for Auto Europe. We rented a car through them in Paris recently (Europecar) and everything went super well. Great rates, great service...you can get a free cell phone for a week with the rental, too. Well, with some charges, but still a really good rate. Check it out. I know them well; they're in my town and was a travel agent for years.

Depending on which side of the Luxembourg Garden, the gare Montparnasse might be a better option than the gare de Lyon. In any case, returning the car at the gare de Lyon is tricky--I just did it last month--because the rue de Bercy is not obvious, not is it obvious until you come to it which garage entrance to use. I had problems getting to the rue de Bercy, and found the garage only because I remembered where I had picked up a car 15 years ago.
