I just wrote a really long reply but it is not posting. I will wait a little bit before I redo it. My daughter has the flu so I have not checked in for a couple of days. When I did now I was thrilled to see all of the responses.

St. Cirq- I hope my kids won't be jetlagged, BUT on every overseas trip it has been a real problem. I try not to think about those crazy hours near midnight in hotels in Rome and London and Jerusalem and Tel Aviv when I have been sooo exhausted and my kids were bouncing off the walls.... So, I am just trying to be prepared this trip. Hence, my posting. Thanks for the website - I will check it out!
Mesange - Is the Caron de Beaumarchais as delicious as it looks on the website? We have two rooms, so we will be 2 to a room, right next to each other.
I will be taking your's and others' advice about the Vedettes de Pont Neuf. I remember the Bateaux Mouches' unintelligible narration only too well... Thanks for the detail on where to board the Vedettes and thank you for your interest!! Any more information from you will be very welcome! I really love this website!
Elaine - I was wondering just what time in the evening would be right for the Vedettes, so thank you! That will definitely be a beautiful night out.
Mike - "lots of hot chocolate and crepes"! Yummy recommendation! Although touristy, the Champs Elysees does sound very exciting at night and my kids will probably love it, just as they love midtown Manhattan (and after all, we are tourists). Where do you stay when you go? I had an impossible time choosing a hotel.
tuscanlifefeedit - I have a 14 year old daughter and two boys, ages 12 and 10. She would be on cloud number 9 just shopping the whole trip, but my boys would revolt! Trocadero sounds like a lot of fun for all of them. I have to do things where everybody is happy.
Laurensuite - where is Rue Dragon? How late do the stores stay open?
Now, I have a new question: we will be eating 2 meals with a French family on a Friday night and then Saturday lunch. I have never met them; my father has a Parisian friend in Boston who set us up with this family in the Marais. What would be a nice gift? Something from here (New York City), or something I buy in Paris?

You will love the Marais. Try the ice skating at Hotel de Ville, not far from where you are staying. Dinner, eat at the French dinner hour. You will be eating at approximately 8:30 and be prepared if your children can deal with it, dinner is not a rushed affair. Some of the museums are open until 9:00 on different nights. Go up on top of the Arc de Triomphe at night. The department stores are open until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays. Have a great trip. We, my husband and I are also going to be in Paris soon. My kids are grown and gone, but we took a trip to Paris together a couple of years ago. It was memorable.

Lucky Kids!! Wait until they emerge from the Metro line and find the Eiffel Tower before them!! It's magical. There are countless steps down and across to the Tower which will wear them out as well. Take a cab home to the Marais. The
city will be aglow.
Walk them until they drop.Hydrate them repeatedly. Administer Benadryl if they simply can't take it and need to sleep.
Your hotel is great. You will be absolutely safe.

Hello there! I read this thread and I just want to say thank you to all the people who contributed. We will be in Paris for 16 to 21 of February with our 10 years old daughter and it really helped me to sort things out and organize our time. Thanks again. Yes! Our kids are lucky! They just do not always understand that.

If you love midtown Manhattan at night then you will love the Champs Elysee at night.
This past trip over Christmas we stayed at the Novotel Gare de Lyon. Two single beds and a twin for 115 Euros. Easy access because it's on the Metro #1 line which runs directly to Champs Elysee and past the Louvre and Notre Dame.
From Notre Dame you can easily walk to the Left Bank and wander through all those tacky tourist shops(that ny wife and daughter love) or walk east to the ice cream stores Berthillion and Amorino Gelati on Ile de St. Louis. It doesn't matter what the temperature is outside .
We wander all over the Opera area or on the Blvd. St. Germain and when we get tired we look for the nearest bistro, bar or restaurant and have a hot chocolate.
You can go on the Ferris wheel at the Place de la Concorde. There's a very good crepe stand at it's base.
You can go the top of the Arc de Triumph at night also. Take the stairs and your kids will get tired but you'll be dead. On top hold the hand of your youngest as it can be scary ( I was).

Thank you all again for your good wishes and wonderful advice! My kids have been taking turns having the flu and bronchitis and we are leaving on Sunday!!!!!
This morning I finally heard back from Michael Osman, a highly recommended tour guide in Paris, and he is going to take us around one day, so I am thrilled.
