janisj- i sent inquiries about 3 of those flats that the website would be available and each owner replied saying that they weren't available. I got really excited about the 1 so I'm a bit disappointed.

Oh well. good luck. The location of your original choice is really good even if some things aren't perfect.

I think the Paristay first one looks okay for one person, if you want that location. I think it's pretty decent compared to a lot of things you see for vacation rentals. I think those fees are perfectly normal, also, although maybe the security deposit is a bit high due to it being the same as a weekly rental amount, but it's not unusual.

The living room is the really small room, only about 10x11 feet, and as far as I can tell, there is only one single bed, so you can't be having one or two other people staying with you -- maybe I missed something, I didn't see it mention a foldout couch or anything. The room size somehow sound more reasonable when they state them than they seem in reality. You say you normally rent a 1 BR apt., but what size is it? You may not be realizing that 300 SF is smaller than many studio apts in the US. I've never heard of a one bedroom that small in the US (although I'm sure there are some, but where I live, studios are around 250-600 SF, and one bedrooms maybe 500-800 SF).
