Paris and South France Sep 2010
My husband, I and our 22 years daughter plan on a probably 10 days trip to Paris and poissible includes couple days at south Frances Sep 2010, Is it too late for this plan? We have never in Europe, what kind of hotel room should we stay? is it possible to have 3 stay in one room? 2 double beds, or a double bed or two twin bed with a roller bed, or sleep sofa? room rate ~$150 US dollar would be good. Appreciate suggestion about the planing, or a professional guide ( not too expensive one), where to stay? Have simple meal, etc. We would like to see the locals, and etc.

You can certainly still book for September. I just had a friend book for this July only a few weeks back and it is much busier then. I will say in Paris itself, $150 US will be challenging for a room for 3 people. I think closer to 150 Euros will be closer to the reality if you want to stay in a central area like the Marais or the Latin Quarter which is where most first time visitors want to be. In the south you should be able to find $150 triples however, depending are where you are thinking about.
Give a us a bit more info of where in the south you are thinking and I might be able to suggest some things. I would encourage you to go for it though-September is a great time to go to Paris-most of the tourists have headed home, although you will have to put up with all the sulky French realizing that their vacation is now over!

Hello Jeero,
My husband & I are also visiting Paris in September, & we just booked our trip last week. We're also looking for suggestions on hotel, things to do, etc, so will definitely be watching your post! We're also taking a side trip to Marrakech for a few days.
Jpie - I sent you an email (hope that's okay) about traveling in Paris, hoping you could offer suggestions.

Thinking of South France :
You don't need to book hotels in September
Languedoc is cheaper than Provence
Montpellier is 3hrs from Paris by train

I would definitely book hotels in advance as the south of France is very popular in September. Since you have not been to the south of France before and have a short time, I suggest Provence which is much easier to reach than the Dordogne. Can you possibly plan for more than two days? Avignon is an easy train ride from Paris and you could rent a car there. But two days really isn't enough to see much. Perhaps 6 days in Paris and 4 days in Provence would work for you.

We have a similar vacation booked for late Aug early Sept. To me south of France is the Cote D'Azur. We are taking the cheap one hour flight from Paris to Nice and spending time in the riviera. Consider flying Air France instead of EasyJet to save on numerous baggage, booking, boarding, etc fees.
