Paradise on the coast of France

I’m referring to the charming Basque town of St Jean de Luz, which is located on the Atlantic coast near the Spanish border. Great setting, great beach [with lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent] and a sizable pedestrian shopping area. Perfect place to hang out and relax, and compact enough so that one doesn’t need a car. Numerous cafes and restaurants, our favorite being a little place called La Portua.

On our recent trip we arrived on the TGV from Tours, stayed for four days and then caught the TGV to Paris.

SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH, Ron. I thought that was my little secret. No one ever talks about it here, but we loved it.

Sounds good! Never been to that area of France. Can you tell us a little more, Ron?

I just talked about it earlier today on another thread.

It's my favorite French beach town. And the food is so enticing in that part of France!

A few years ago, my husband and I amused the diners near our table at a tiny restaurant in St. Jean de Luz by eating a shellfish platter definitely intended for more than 2 people. But oh, the shrimp and mussels were HEAVENLY! To say nothing of the wine...

Anyway, we loved St. Jean de Luz, and found it a very easy train ride from Bordeaux, but maybe I shouldn't post that?
