Panzano - what have you heard?

I've been wondering about Panzano, has anyone been to the wine festival there? And what are accomodations like? the town in general? Thanks for your help.

Go to Slowtrav.com. Panzano was featured in at least one article written by an author based in Florence.

I love Panzano. I believe we discussed it at slow talk not too long ago. Go there and do a search.

We stayed at the rural b&b Fagliori just outside Panzano. Panzano is a charming small village about 40 minutes south of Florence. Panzano does seem to cater to the upscale wine connesuer type of tourist however. Most of the places to eat are high end, with extensive wine lists. We were very pleased with Fagliori, which is a nice, modestly priced b&b in a beautiful, quiet setting about 5 minutes (on a very bumpy dirt road) outside of town.

Panzano is a *tiny* gem of a town! I imagine that during a festival it would be crowded but we were there in May 2000 and I loved it. There is a B&B just outside of town, that has a path behind it that allows one to hike to town over a little hill. Here a copy of a note I posted about Panzano including a website..

Message: In 2000 we stayed in a B&B near a *very* tiny town named Panzano--a place so small that many of the "stores" on the main street of the town were just doorways off the street w/o signs--and while there we visited Radda, Castellina, Greve and Siena. After being in the tiny hill towns, we lost some of our ability to enjoy Siena. It just seemed so huge and hot compared to the tiny jewels that the towns were!! Our B&B did have views of the tuscan hills/fields/vineyards and then was just around 100 dollars/night but now is around 100 euros. If you are interested here is the site... http://www.tuscany.net/rosaboscorotondo/

It's a small and charming village. Do check out Dario the butcher. He recites Dante. On Sundays his market has all sorts of wonderful things to sample.
