Sorry - can't help you with your question. (I lived near Oxford for several years so I don't pay folks to take me around to the sights)
But you can easily do Oxford w/o having to pay a tour company. Just get a cheap day return ticket from paddington, or even cheaper take the bus from Victoria Caoch Station. Then once you are in Oxford walk over to the Tourist Information Center. They offer REALLY GOOD, walking tours every day - on some days there are 6 or 7 to choose from. The cost is only £4 for most of the tours and the guides are usually retired Oxford dons or someone with vast knowledge of Oxford and the colleges. These tours will usually get you into the Bodlean and at least one or two colleges and take you through lots of interesting streets, alleys and points of interest.
Then after the walking tour you an walk down to Christ Church (this college has an entrance fee but it is well worth seeing) then through Christ Church Meadows to the river and back along the High.
You will have seen most of central Oxford and spent almost nothing.

Thank you, Janis, for the tips. I had read that the tours were on a first come, first served basis, and was a little afraid I would not be able to pick one up. But it sounds as if this would not be a problem. That was all that was making me think twice about taking the train to Oxford myself. This also makes scheduling easier.

My family and I have taken the London Walks Oxford Explorer Day but it was with Hillary. It was great. I'm sure traveling to Oxford yourself and taking a local tour could be just as good (maybe even beter) but if you're coming from London anyway, going with London Walks could make it easier. Either way, I think you'll love Oxford!

The benefit of taking one of the Explorer Days with London Walks is that you don't have to worry about transportation, logistics, etc... You just follow the guide and enjoy the trip. You also get more out of it since the guide gives you history, etc... along the way.
We had Richard on a Greenwich trip and he was very good.
