Oxford Hotel in London? Anyone?

Does anyone have any experience with the Oxford Hotel in Hyde Park?

It got 3 really good reviews on tripadvisor. It is a 3 star, in the area I want to be in, and it includes breakfast.

Pls let me know your thoughts.

thanks!
Mindy

I have a reservation there in April, chosen in part due to the favorable reveiws on Tripadvisor. When are you going? If it's later that April 19 I'll let you know how it was when I get back. They did give me a discounted rate because I found them via SmoothHound, and they also made the effort to fax me my confirmation when they had trouble reaching me by email, which I appreciated. The photos look nice, we shall see!

OK Mindy, will do. I can't wait to leave for this trip! Leaving in 29 days! (We are visiting Edinburgh & York, then to London & the Oxford Hotel.)

Hi Mindy & Daisy

I stayed at the Oxford Hotel in November of 2001 and am staying there again starting next week. It is small and on a quiet street, but really close to Hyde Park. It is clean, small and the people are very nice. The breakfast is light but the croissants were great.

As a returning customer, they even gave me a discount. From the pictures I have recently seen, it looks like they have updated the decor in reception and the breakfast room.

I hope this was helpful & have a great trip.

Sus

Thanks Sus! I feel so much better hearing good things from someone that has actually stayed there. Can't beat a personal recommendation!

I saw on another thread that the Oxford Hotel is really bad. And the staff is rude. I cannot vow to this as I have never stayed there or been in the hotel but I did see some very negative things written about it here on Fodor's Travel talk. Sorry, just warning you.
