overnight trip to paris

I'm going to Paris for a overnight stay from London in a few weeks. Are there any good markets or interesting neighborhoods I should visit?

I lived near the Place Maubert where there is a neighborhood green market a few times a week.

Just what kind of market and what kind of interesting neighborhoods do you seek?

Antique markets or street fairs would be interesting. I grew up in NYC and I would love to compare the experiences of the two cities. Neighborhoods that are not too proper, i.e. the Latin qtr., would be great.

The Marais (young, funky, great modern shopping, the Jewish Quater and the Picasso Museum) as well as St. Germain (more patrician, upper class) would be my 2 picks for neighbourhoods that will give you a real flavour - plus a walk along the Seine, of course.
