Overnight Train Prague to Krakow. How to buy tickets in advance?

I have been trying to buy tickets on the overnight train from Prague to Krakow. I want to buy a double sleeper for Sept 14th. I have been emailing Czech Railways and the first agent said I had to wait until 60 days prior, but that we (my husband and I) could not share a berth as they were male or female cabins not co-ed.
I emailed again to day as I still cant book this on line on their website and the customer service manager said that I have to wait to book the trip when we get there , which is not until the evening of Sept 9th. I am afraid everything will be sold out by then
Does anyone know another way to do this from here? A local travel agent perhaps?
Thanks very much.
This is the site I am using

I think it depends on date; for Sep 14 I get "Request cannot be processed." Site sells 60 days in advance & Sep 14 is exactly 60 days so I would try in couple of days. As a test (I have an account on site) after logging in I tried for Aug 21, got 500CZK price and it took me to purchase page.

I remember booking with a travel agent in Prague when I was there, and it was a lot cheaper than booking online with the RR.

I also took the train RT and it was not full in either direction so that might not be a problem if you wait.

Also, unless it has changed, I'm certain there were heterosexual couples in the sleepers - I recall talking to one couple on their honeymoon, so I don't know what that agent was talking about.

I can't remember the name of the agency I used altho' I'm sure it's in a post somewhere here on Fodor's, altho' it was about 5-6 years ago. Maybe you can do an online search, or try to find an agency where you live who can help you.

If you DON'T book ALL the berths in a sleeper, it is single sex, as you'll then be sharing with other passengers.

But if you book ALL the berths in a sleeper (for example 2 beds in a 2-berth) then gender DOESN'T MATTER, a man and women travelling together can share.

HOWEVER, for the purposes of booking online at cd.cz/eshop you MUST select BOTH MALE. Or both female, that would work just as well.

Have a look at www.seat61.com and the German website www.bahn.de. We did it the other way round - from Krakow to Prague and had a pleasant experience. We also booked the double sleeper - on bahn.de

How I envy you now!

Well I can't seem to do this any which way. The Bahn site does not work either. When I try to book the CZ site, even if I change the date to next week, it wont let me do it. I even registered with them and it still would not work.

Has anyone heard of the the site

The German site is for trains going into and out of Germany. I believe that you cannot book sleepers on the Czech site, only regular seats. Sleepers need to be booked at the station within the Czech Republic, which is what the email said to do.

You could try the Polish site or wait until you get to Prague.

You can book sleeper on http://www.cd.cz/eshop (pick sleeper carriage/double berth), price: 2578CZK but booking for Sep 14 is not working right now. I would try again in 2-3 weeks.

hkto, it seems that not any dates work. I tried to book it for July and August as well and nothing.

adrienne I did try the polrail site but it is quite expensive.

I will take my chances and wait until I get there and book it 5 days in advance.
Thanks for the help.

UPDATE
I just purchased the required double sleeper for September 14th. from Prague to Krakow on the Czech Railway site.

I had to register and the problem was that I have an email with yahoo.ca instead of yahoo.com (canadian eh) and they did not like that. I created a new email with a yahoo.com and because the trip is less than a month away was able to purchase the sleeper. Total for two adults in double sleeper is $138 CDN total for two.
Thanks for all your help everyone. Only 20 more sleeps.
