Overnight halfway between Venice and Lauterbrunnen?

In late September the 4 of us will be driving from Venice to Lauterbrunnen, S. which according to Michelin is about 350 miles. We would like to stop overnight about halfway or more, and welcome suggestions. We can stay by the lake area or travel farther north into the Italian Alps. Small, less busy towns are perfectly satisfactory.

Verona worked well for our itenerary coming from the North before going to Venice.

Don't park in Venice, getting into and out of parking was time consuming and expensive. Better and cheaper to park on the mainland and catch the short train ride into Venice.

Lugano, Locarno and Bellinzona are all about halfway along your route and each would be a good choice IMO.

Stresa on gorgeous Lake Maggiore would make a good about half way stop

Verona is fine but quite close to Venice

What would be the quickest route Venice to BOB Berner Oberland

I was thinking up thru Stresa and Brig and Lotschberg

but perhaps Como, Lugano, Simplon then mountain passes into Meiringen?

Anyone driven the latter route which on reflection may seem quicker and just as scenic though both Swiss routes are awfully scenic

I'd probably overnight in Lugano or somewhere in the vicinity, then drive up the Ticino valley and via Nufenen and Grimsel passes, Meiringen to Lauterbrunnen. Or via Gotthard and Susten, Meiringen to Lauterbrunnen.

Unless you really want to load your car on a train through the Lötschberg tunnel I wouldn't drive via Simplon Pass.

I.
