So it is a shopping trip, then.
How many bags you plan to carry all day?

Shopping is mostly just looking at things, we like to check out markets.

Santa Croce was one of my top favorites in Firenze, was absolutely bowled over by the beauty and history of the place, had to tear myself away from there. And of course seeing David is a pilgrimage of almost all tourists.

Do stop for a gelato, also maybe a glass of wine by the Arno before heading back to the station in the evening...😊

I would not recommend shopping at Piazza Ciompi. Overcrowded place full of junk, but the Loggia is beautiful and it is a pity that it has become a haven for cheap merchandise.

If you are looking at leather goods, be careful shopping at the Piazza Santa Croce. There are some excellent shops there, but plenty of cheap vendors as well.

Basilica of Santa Croce is magnificent, it is worth spending time just to see the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo, but you will find much more treasures there.

There's usually a very long queue to get inside the Duomo. I don't think you've time for it on this very busy day. Anyway, there's not much to see inside. If you have time, I suggest you visit the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, very near the station, with many art treasures of the Italian Renaissance. You might also enjoy the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica of Santa Maria Novella, a beautiful antique pharmacy which now sells all sorts of lotions and perfumes, including some made from the original recipes of the 17th century friars. It also has a very nice tea shop.
