Where should I stay in Milan in July?

I'm spending one night in Milan in July, with about half a day spare before I head to the Malpensa Airport (MXP).

Q. In what neighbourhood should I stay so that I can easily get to an attraction or area of interest and the airport? I was thinking of going to the Duomo di Milano...

Thanks in advance.

The "usual" ways to the airport are by rail or by taxi. You can stay near the Duomo or not so near and use the Metro to get there and back to your hotel. The trains to the airport leave from Milano Centrale station as well as Cadorna station as I recall. Have you researched these transportation modes at all? have you consulted a Metro map of Milan? if not,I suggest you do so.

I'm not so much asking how I get to the airport (Google Maps has helped me with that one) but rather where I should stay.

I'm hoping people on here have favourite neighbourhoods that are both near an attraction and transport line to the airport. If someone asked me the same question about my home city, I could list three ideas off the top of my head.

I like to stay near Milano Centrale both because it makes coming/going easier but also I found a hotel I love near there - Hotel Berna. I have walked from there to the Duomo but it does take about half hour I think so I usually take the metro.

I was not overly enamored with Brera last July, but I can see why people find it attractive, and it's certainly convenient, so you might consider that area. For quick access to the airport but still close to major sights, you could also look for something near Cadorna, though there aren't as many hotels over there.

I actually stayed at this hotel and walked to Cadorna the morning of my flight. Milan is flat and I don't mind walking--took me about 15 minutes with one rolly bag. No big deal.

Here is a good website that covers all the areas in Milan to stay with pros and cons. https://www.walksofitaly.com/blog/mi...-accommodation

We had a noon flight, as I recalled so we opted to locate ourselves near the Milan Central rail station. It was an okay area. We are walkers, and it took us maybe 30 minutes to get to the Centro Storico where the min attractions are. You can also travel via Metro between the two places (rail station to duomo).

We stayed at the Hotel Michelangelo close to Milano Centrale. I was very underwhelmed by the area around it, but it is right across the train station, which makes it very convenient for day trips. The hotel itself is a normal business hotel with rather small rooms, comfortable beds and jacuzzi tub. What was amazing is their breakfast - countless variety of meals, which looked like more of a lunch than breakfast food to me. Delicious!

The neighbourhood around the Duomo has a lot of interest, and you can easily get to Milan Central station by metro from there. We usually stay there or near the Central Station.
