Orvieto car rental location

After taking the train from Rome upon arrival, I am considering picking up the rental car in Orvieto to see the town and Civita de Bagnoreggio before driving up to the home base for Tuscany (San Quirico). Anyone know where the rental car office(s) are in proximity to the station ?

Good idea.
It is about 700 meters from the station---a healthy walk with bags.

Tho not bad if you are traveling with someone else who can stay with the bags at the station while you go get the car.

You are also unlikely to want the car while in Orvieto itself. As I remember, we parked at the bottom and took a funicular of some sort to the top, where we walked around to all the points of interest.

I wouldn't want a car in Orvieto, but if you can go thru the rental process, put your bags in the car and then leave it at the rental place (Hertz?) or somewhere nearby while you visit Orvieto, that would be ideal.

The Hertz office is a half block from the station. Don't miss the opportunity to lunch at I Setti Consoli in Orvieto Alto. (And of course, you must see the duomo.)

About Orvieto, I hope it can be interesting to know that on Saturday May 24 and Sunday 25 there is Festa del Corpus Domini.
Do not miss it !
BTW: I will be there.

Vincenzo,

We will be in Orvieto May 25 and 25! (But we are moving to an agriturismo on the 25 so probably won't spend a lot of time in town unless there is something special happening in the evening. where can we find out more about the festival?

Charnee,
if you want we can meet there, I will be with other American tourists and with several friends of mine who live in Orvieto.
So, if you want, feel free to e-mail me and I give you my mobile number so that we can meet altough the crowd.

Vincenzo - I was so happy to read your post. We are staying in Pienza May 22 and 23 and the plan was to drive to Orvieto on May 24 spend some time there before taking the train to Rome. I would love to know more about the festival, what time events are taking place, etc. Thanks!

Barbara,
the best website, for now, is www.orvietoturismo.it
On Saturday 24 it is already a good day to enjoy the festival.
