What does "there were no intermediate stops" mean?
Do pickpockets often pay Air France €12-16 so they can rip people off between Étoile and Porte Maillot?
Sounds like a risky undertaking to me.

I imagine no intermediate stops means that the bus makes no stops between CDG and Orly. That is true, so that saves trip time. I don't know what that has to do with pickpockets, though.
It takes about 50-70 minutes. The buses are air-conditioned, also, which is nice.

It would be convenient (although not as comfortable as AF bus IMO) if the RER did go there, but it doesn't, unfortunately. It only goes to Antony RER stop, and from there you have to take the Orlyval shuttle train to Orly airport. It's really kind of expensive, also, for the RER, because you are crossing a lot of zones (and I think they just decided to make that VAL shuttle expensive). I do think it's still cheaper than the AF bus, and is an option.
RER C line actually has a stop called Orly, but then you have to take some navette to the terminals, I think, as it's far away. That is a little cheaper than the RER B/VAL thing, though.

You want cheap:
Orlybus to Denfert-Rochereau - € 5.80
RER B to CDG - € 7.85
Total - € 13.65
(For € 2 and change, I think I'd take Air France.)
---------------------------------------
The statement was "There were no intermediate stops, so we had did not have to worry about pickpockets."
My question would be: you mean if there are intermediate stops, you do have to worry about pickpockets? Seems like pretty high overhead for the thieves, not knowing the outcome. At least in the Métro, they can use a pass!
