Operaman: Any advice on 19th district in Vienna?
I've noticed that you seem to be quiet the expert on Vienna and I had a quick question regarding the 19th district. I am looking to book an apartment on Zahnradbahnstraße for Nov and Dec and wanted to know what you thought of this neighborhood (that is if you've been or what you've heard). It's a small apartment, but seems suitable for what we need. The web address is: http://www.netland.at/wien/pfaffenberger/
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

19th district, Dobling, not bad, a little far out from city center, but we always stay out of city center as well. You should be closer to the Heuriger in that district, which, in my opinion is a good thing. May I suggest two other options:

This is the family Walkner apartments Augarten, which come highly recommended by family and friends. It is a bit closer to city center and very nice.

This is where we have stayed out in ditrict 22 at the Kaminek's apts. Ilona Kaminek is a wonderful landlady with several apts. She will also pick you up at the airport for a small charge, which is VERY convenient. These apts are about 15 min by convenient S-bahn to city center. The area of Floridsdorf is not the prettiest, but after all, you usually are just going to your apt to sleep and relax. Ilona's apts are very modern, quiet, priced right (with no end cleaning charge), and completely safe. I recommend her very highly.

Operaman,
Thanks for the tips and for the links. Good to know that 19th district is nice enough. It's a great price so I think we may go for it. I'll check into your places beforehand though. I've heard great things about Vienna. I'm so excited!

Do as my friend molker told you in another post: find the nice Heurigers in the Nussdorf area such as the Schubert Aurel. Avoid Grinzing for the Heurigers, much too touristy, better ones to be found in the area in which you may be staying.
